Third time lucky for Kelly?

Well it’s been done and dusted. The Arizona Congressional District 8 seat has been won by Democrat Ron Barber.

The disappointing result now sees Republican Jesse Kelly as having lost two elections and now the question is will he run again.

We have been strong advocates for Jesse and will remain so in whatever he chooses to do.

A large portion of the vote would have gone to Barber on sentimental grounds considering Gabrielle Giffords and the tragic circumstances of her resignation.

The air has now been cleared and Barber cannot rely on sentiment or past events. He will be solely judged on his work in Washington and how it will benefit Tusconians.

Kelly is young and is not alone when it comes to politicians losing several times before they won an election.

His performance during the Republican primary, his 2010 campaign and the recent CD8 election wold have provided Kelly with an enormous amount of experience.

His strategists will have to pick through the numbers, find out they whys and what if’s and try and find a way to claim the seat for the Republicans in November when the nation votes in the presidential election.

The Congressional district will be renamed as CD2 and provides an excellent opportunity for the Tucson Republicans to regain the initiative and press again for victory.

They are a talented and decent bunch in Tucson. They will need to hone their message and appeal to those who may have never considered voting Republican. Our experience of them is they are welcoming, thoughtful, kind, generous and decent folk. With robust forums, candidates with a can-do attitude and a superb sense of duty something sadly lacking in the United States today.

There are worring signs for republcians with regars to the 2012 election

This election and the overall 2012 presidential campaign has a rather strange notion about it. There seems to be a lull in the passion from the Romney camp and even the Obama camp. It seems the election is something that will be held in November. The conventions will heat things up, but the way in which it’s been held out of the minds of folks is unsettling. In Australia with a government hell bent on destroying a strong economy via carbon taxes and soft border protection, the voters have maintained d their anger and cant wait to get to election day in 2013. It’s similar to the feeling of 2008 where folks wanted to oust the old and bring in the new. Obama has failed dismally in getting America into economic shape.

We saw lethargy at the NRA convention in St Louis and it seems is continuing today. The Romney camp needs to lift and start getting people
